On the shed walls use exterior rated 1/2 inch plywood for a waterproof finished look, and 3/4 inch cdx plywood on the roof for strength. in this article i’ll explain my recommendations, the differences between plywood and osb, and why plywood is a better option for exterior shed walls.. Replacement shed roof – osb or ply? wickes used to do bitumnen faced plywood, otherwise use shuutering ply, wear gloves and eye protection when cutting it spits quite bad, as for osb. The floor should be 3/4" thick. i would use advantech instead of plywood. if you are going to put siding on the shed you can use 1/2" plywood for the walls. another option is 5/8 t1-11. the roof should be 1/2 or 5/8 plywood..
Hi all, i'm gonna build a shed/workshop and i would like to know if i can use chipboard instead of external plywood for the roof ? will it stand up to the weather. I have 18mm plywood for the shed roof. these will be covered with roofing felt. i have a tin of cuprinol garden wood preserver that could be used perhaps but it says on the tin, it will require weeks to fully dry if storing plants but i won't be doing with plants for some time. or can i leave 1 coat for 24 hours and screw the timber down and. Osb and plywood are both commonly sold in 4-by-8-foot sheets, but osb can be made in much larger panels, up to 8-by-24 feet. using larger osb panels can be an advantage when flooring a big or odd-size shed, reducing the number of joints in a floor..
